This group project reimagines columns in the New York subway as interactive time-immersive installations. Using gears and butterfly imagery, the design conveys the passage of time to commuters, inviting them into a dreamlike state of reflection. The interconnected gears rotate, causing the butterfly wings to gently flutter, symbolizing fleeting moments. The installation encourages travelers to pause and contemplate the present while waiting for their train.

This exploded diagram showcases a CNC-geared pattern design, inspired by mechanical precision and modularity.  It is designed layer by layer. The design features a set of four interlocking tiles, each contributing to a cohesive, dynamic pattern when arranged together.

This 1:1 scale physical model brings together a system of interconnected gears, carefully crafted to showcase seamless mechanical movement. Each gear is linked to the others, so that turning any one of them activates a synchronized chain reaction, setting the entire structure into motion. Attached to these gears are delicate butterfly wings that respond to each turn, gracefully flapping and creating the illusion of flight. The design not only highlights the beauty of mechanical interdependence but also evokes a sense of life and transformation, as if the structure itself is breathing in sync with its moving parts.
